I didn’t notice it before. But obviously, I’ve noticed it now. (There’s a bit of humor there)
Why don’t I read Contemporary? That may be half a lie, because I do read Contemporary, just not my first choice. “Why I Don’t Read Contemporary” just seem more acceptable than “Why isn’t Contemporary my First Choice”.
Okay, this isn’t going anywhere.
Because I’m too lazy to write well constructed paragraphs, I’ve decided to use (double) bullets instead.
- · I feel like Contemporary doesn’t maximize my imagination.
- · Contemporary happens in real life. I already have a real life. I live it. So what’s the use of having two lives of the same type? At least with fantasy, I can live my other life as a fairy/ angel/ etc/
- · Make-up fantasy worlds/plots seem harder to construct than contemporary. It wows me more.
- · I admire authors who can make up worlds/ set up their worlds’ own rules/ envision characters not human, because trust me, I’ve tried it before, and it’s friggn hard.
- · I read to escape, but when I read contemporary, I feel rather caged up.
- · Fantasy is like flying, contemporary is like taking a walk.
- · Contemporary is ordinary.
- · Contemporary has too much drama.
- · Contemporary is too predictable.
- · Contemporary isn’t just for me.
