The captain as the passenger

The captain of the ship is unhappy.
The captain is sad because it's his last cruise.
And as he say goodbye to the stirring wheel, to the view he had watched for years, the occasional uneasiness of the ride, and his responsibility to his passengers...
A tear fell on his cheeks.
He wiped it off quickly before anyone sees it.
"What's wrong, captain?" a ship crew asked him. "Ÿou look unhappy."
"Well, I am," he replied.
"Ït must be difficult to leave this ship and not be captain anymore."
"No, son," the captain said, "Ït's more difficult to be in a ship and be its passenger."
Bewildered, the young boy said, "Ï don't understand, captain. You are this ship's captain still."
"You said it yourself, boy. When this ship lands, I am no captain no more. But that's fine. That's acceptable. That's inevitable. But what's more difficult to accept is that the next time I take a cruise, I'd be its passenger. And that hurts more."
