BOOK REVIEW: The Elite by Kiera Cass

The Elite by Kiera Cass | 3/5

I was so inlove with The Selection I nearly died along the agony of waiting for The Elite. And then it came out… and I remember being so excited when I got my hands on a copy.

I nearly died of frustration this time. I was repeating the same thing to myself over and over as I spent 5 hours or less trying to reach the far end of the book.

OH AMERICA YOU ARE SO STUPID!

Seriously.

She is.

I think its stupid she gives false hope to either Maxon or Aspen. Why couldn’t she just let go of one? And shift her focus entirely to that one person. Maybe if she did so, she wouldn’t have looked so desperate, so stupid. And Kriss wouldn’t be in the position as to where she is now, visibly with a better view than America. I mean who is Kriss anyway? During The Selection, I barely cared for the other girls except maybe Marlee and Celeste. But wtf is Kriss??

The book was intensely irritating. Ok that seems harsh. Let me rephrase: Where the story is going now is intensely irritating. I’m not excited at all. I am scared. And I'm not judging the book or the author, but America solo.

And the diary. Wtf so stupid for America to brag about it in National TV. I mean it isn’t just a book. It’s Illea’s diary, a matter of national treasure. And she’s lucky enough she was able to read it, but come on, everybody knows what she did was so STUPID. How humiliating. And Maxon trusted her! I think she deserved what got to her. The King had his say. But the King overall with his relationship with Maxon. Wtf is the beating for? I mean I understand discipline. But Maxon isn’t just his son, he’s the Prince! But on second thought, he is the Prince after all that we understand his pain and suffering underneath the crown and glamour. I mean there’s so many books out there tackling issues about monarchy – even movies – that we know being royalty isn’t just about the crown or the palace.

I think America is not just confused but a whole breakdown confused, that she’s playing safe. She’s keeping both Maxon and Aspen so whichever didn’t work out, she has someone else backup. That’s retarded. I mean her choice is so obvious, CHOOSE MAXON CHOOSE MAXON.

I liked how it ended though. With one of her made saying they needed a plan. I hope it’s a great one. Because she needs more than average to re-earn Maxon’s trust.
