TAG: Book Buying (From Youtube)

Hurray for another tag! ^o^

This one is really interesting and I found it on this girl's Youtube. Please feel free to make one yourself, and don't forget to let me know.

1-Where do you buy your books from?

I buy most of my books from National Bookstore. It's very convenient because there's one in every 10-mile radius. However, NBS sells very limited books, and the most they have are only the bestsellers. So, if I'm in the mood, I'd travel a little farther to Fullybooked, which is by the way, a book-heaven for a girl like me. They have a broader selection of books, and some of their branches are stories high. So cool.

I don't buy a lot of books online because I don't like waiting.

And then there's Booksale, which I go to a lot on a weekly basis. Apparent from the store name, Booksale sells random hand me down books. You get lucky because most of their branches are very small, and the books are usually double/triple stacked. If you are determined to find a book you might like, be sure to allot an hour or so. You'd need it. It's literally a scavenger hunt.

2-Do you ever pre orders book and if so do you do this in store or online?

Never.

3-On average, how many books do you buy a month?

It depends entirely on the budget, and my mood. There are some occasional months when I end up purchasing more than 10 books, just because I'm feeling it. But sometimes, I don't buy any at all. On average, perhaps 2-3 books/ month would do.

4-Do you used your local library?

As far I'm ignorant, I don't think we have local libraries. Maybe there's the National Library but that's going overboard. I do have my school library, which has a few picks of Fiction books, but most of them are battered. Hard to read when the copy isn't mine. So no. Besides textbooks, I pretty much don't use the school library.

5-If so- how my books can you/do you borrow at a time?

6-What is your opinion on library books?

I think they're cool if they are updated on new releases. Maybe then I'll give it a go.

7-How do you feel about charity shop/second hand books?

I love it. Some people prefer their books brand-new, like never been touched. That doesn't work for me. I prefer a book that looks as if it's been read and digested. I don't mind breaking the spine. Actually I encourage it. Probably half of my books are second hand anyway, and I don't mind it, especially if it contains sweet little notes on one of the empty pages, written from a friend to a friend or an aunt to a niece. It feels magical, that the books has journeyed all the way just to reach me. I feel connected to its past, and it makes me feel less alone.

8-Do you keep your read and TBR pile together/on the same book shelf or not?

No. I rearrange my books a lot, because it always give me the feeling of communion. And never once have I separated my read to my tbr books.

9-Do you plan to read all of the books that you own?

No. Some books are meant to fill the gaps on your bookshelf.

10-What do you do with books you that you own that you feel you will never read/felt you did not enjoy?

Keep them. At least until I can no longer manage my books. I am well aware that time will bring my bookshelf to its limit. When that day comes, perhaps I should donate some of my books. And it shall begin with books I did not enjoy.

11-Have you ever donated books?

No.

12-Have you ever been on a book buying ban?

I don't condition myself for a book buying ban. My budget does.

13-Do you feel that you buy too many books?
For a regular person? Yes. For a bibliophile? No.
