You call that singing?

I constantly seek good music. By that I mean search for my next favorite band.

And I ended up finding this really cool chic on instagram who self proclaims being a rocker (I have no problem with self-proclamations as long as the person live up to it). I'm not going to name the person, or even name her band. She's really pretty though especially with her purple hair. And the band name does have a ring to it. Because the vocalist seem interesting enough, I went to Youtube and listened to a few of their songs. Live and studio versions.

I was greatly disappointed.

Dear lady with purple hair, you call that singing?

Because it sounds to me as cry for desperation.

Maybe with pop or electronic, her voice can pass. But you call that rock? Have you ever listened to rock bands out there? Say listen to Paramore, do you hear Britney Spears on Hayley Williams? Say listen to All Time Low, do you hear Justin Bieber on Alex Gaskarth? Say listen to Black Veil Brides, do you hear Justin Timberlake on Andy Biersack?

No.

Because the vocals must blend in with the melody to become what we hear as music. It has to match. You don't put tomato sauce on carbonara. You don't put cheese on beef steak. It ruins it. Your voice ruined what your band could have been.

Rock the style. Rock the attitude. You don't need to be in a band to be considered what you are. Because I think that's just it. She wants so desperately to live the lifestyle that she'd go for the opportunity.

If I will to describe her voice, I'd call it confidence not talent.

I've always loved the punk rock genre because it offers me something pop and mainstream doesn't. Individuality. I like the sprinkle of toughness. A brush of rebellion. Bands give the audience that "grr" or "ugh" or "grunge" factor, and that's what she's missing really.

It's not about her voice being too ordinary... but being, actually, too boring.

Constant.
Monotonous.
Boring.

{ to be considered rock }

Ps. I like your purple hair.
