Favorite Designer Scents! (Eau de parfum except for one)

I am a huge perfume enthusiast. In fact, if I'm in a rush to do any makeup, I'd skip that part and just spritz perfume and I'm good to go. Perfume is a life saver. No matter what you're wearing, if you're wearing good perfume, you scream luxury wherever you go.

Of course, some people don't mind. But I do. I care so much about scents it's insane. I guess that defines my obsession with scented candles too.

Okay, here we go. Let me share with you my Top 5 scents. I'd just name my all time favorite and then I'd name the rest without order.

1.) On the top of my list is Pour Femme by Lacoste. I first had a taste of this scent when I was passing by at the mall with my Mom, and the associate pulled us over for a try. Let me tell you, it smelled divine. In fact, I think this is what started it all. This is my first designer perfume purchase.

I'm not good in describing scents, but let me share with you the notes anyway, if you care with that sort of stuff.

The top notes are allspice and purple freesia. The heart introduces heliotrope and jasmine in an alliance with hibiscus blossom and Bulgarian rose. The base brings Himalayan cedar, warm woman skin accord, sandal and incense. (http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Lacoste/Lacoste-Pour-Femme-669.html)

To me, it smells like what a boss would smell like. It screams workplace all over it. But I don't picture a mean- designer chic- boss. Instead I see a young boss wearing this scent, discreet with her heritage although she's living a fabulous life and who knows maybe she's the Granddaughter of somebody. (I watch too much Korean Drama here) It smells so professional, sophisticated, very lady-like, luxurious, and something a very nice, kind, and humble but very successful rich young woman would wear.

2.) Next scent I'm going to tell you about is La Vie Est Belle by Lancome. I suppose this ranks second to me. This is also my most worn perfume. I first smelled this while I was shopping with my Mom on board a cruise that time around 2016. I was automatically absorbed by the scent.

I went back for it upon port and it remained a favorite to this day. In fact, I get a lot of compliment whenever I wear this (probably why I wear it all the time). I'd say this requires minimum of an hour (or more) before I get the full effect of the scent. I remember precisely wearing this for work. I'd spritz it in the morning, and then by afternoon I'd smell this rather different scent. One time I even kept going the whole afternoon, "What is that scent? It smells amazing." Later on I realized it was me.

It smells a bit floral, but so far from it. It's hard to explain in words but it's just a confusing mix of everything that makes it so unique. Using my imagination, I'd put it this way: I see a creative young soul, making a name in the fashion industry, who somehow stumbled across Paris. She's young, enthusiastic, her eyes glistens with so much hope and happiness. She barely has enough for a living but she's genuinely happy. And I can see a future with her. Probably at some high end fashion magazine. And she'd live a life of her dreams, full of achievements and celebrations. This perfume just gives me that positive vibe, and it makes me happy too whenever I smell myself.

Iris is the key ingredient of the perfume, surrounded by orange blossoms and jasmine in the heart. The composition’s opening provides fruity flavors of black currant and pear, while the base is warm, gourmand and powdery due to almond-like accords of tonka bean, praline, patchouli and vanilla. 3.) Not necessarily my third favorite, but Gucci Guilty (Eau de toilette) is one of the best out there. This is strong one. And actually, if you look at it the other way, you might think it's for men. To be honest I'm unsure. But Charles Gross once said, "Perfume is genderless."

Side note, I first smelled this when an associate at the Dept. Store was so adamant he spray this perfume on me. I let him and moved on. Midway shopping, I keep on smelling this amazing scent only to realize it's actually Gucci Guilty. I ended up buying it right then and there.

This smells like the boss. She's not joking, and she's up there because she worked hard for it. She deserves it and she's telling everyone about it. She's independent, hard to please, and don't do relationships. Occasionally she does hook-ups but that's it. She's an only child, parents abroad, and lives at the Penthouse. She spends her holidays in Europe and doesn't come back to work until a week later. But she's the boss so nobody minds. She books the best hotels and dines at the best restaurants. She knows everybody from everybody and doesn't get no for an answer. But although she's all of this, I sense a tinge of sadness. Underneath it all, the glamorous and luxurious lifestyle, she just seeks love from everyone around her.

PS. Grandest bottle ever.

Gucci Guilty contains the notes of mandarin, pink pepper, peach, lilac, geranium, amber and patchouli. (http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Gucci/Gucci-Guilty-9677.html)

4.) Can Can by Paris Hilton. This smells like a 21 year old would wear. She's enjoying her life right now, but she doesn't know what's up ahead. Such a very sweet, still luxurious, scent. To me this smells like a girl who just graduated college, who decided to travel first before working. She's probably in Korea with her bffs as we speak, living the chill life, shopping and dining before she enters reality. Although she knew. She knows what's up ahead and she's scared. But at the moment she doesn't care, she just wants to enjoy life for one second.

I bought my bottle at Singapore, just thought I'd share that. Generally, I'm into sweet scents so this to me isn't to hard to fall in love with.

The fragrance is floral-fruity, oriental, and of course, very sensual. It opens with clementine blossom, black currant and nectarine. The heart unites wild orchid and orange blossom, while the base brings soft musk, amber and precious woods. (http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Paris-Hilton/Can-Can-1202.html)

PS. I've smelled a bunch of Paris Hilton scents, and I must say she pays attention to her perfumes. They all smell amazing. It totally encompasses her lifestyle- flirty, glamorous and so heiress.

5.) Last on my list is Weekend by Burberry. I recently just bought this and goodness I can't stop smelling it. It actually smells very comforting. I imagine my Mom wear this on a trip down the beach. She'd prepare us barbecue and packed meals and everything is just nice and it's such a beautiful day and I have no problems and I can just relax. I definitely relate to the name of this heavenly scent: Weekend. Like a weekend off, a break, a very comfortable vacay with your loved ones with nothing to worry about for a few days.

Top notes include sweet and zesty mandarine and aromatic grassy notes. Heart notes contain blue hyacinth, iris, nectarine, peach flower, red cyclamen and wild rose. The drydown is a perfect blend of sandalwood, cedar and musk. (http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Burberry/Weekend-for-Women-1000.html)

RUNNER UP: My runner up is Eclat d' Arpege by Lanvin. Top notes are green lilac and petit grain; middle notes are peach blossom, wisteria, red peony, green tea and Chinese osmanthus; base notes are amber, musk and cedar. (http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Lanvin/Eclat-d-Arpege-9110.html)

xx

Cheers,
