It wasn't an exaggeration

I went under fire the last couple of days. Now that is the exaggeration. It's safe to say that it was a spark, but enough to cause fire any day from now. The only question is, do I want it to?

I've been a fan of BTS for a while now. Although I cannot attest to others' experience, mine is as real as it can get. The boys are special to me because they not only represent music, they represent hope, ambition, and hard work. I will not spend words convincing people that I am, because love does not need proof.

Before I dove into BTS, I had my fare share of biased judgment. I was quick to form my opinion, based on what I see from social media. And in that environment, BTS ARMY leads. I have read many threads and witnessed people fighting over BTS, some groundless. The only barrier that separated me from becoming a fan was the fans. Initially, I thought the fans were narrow-minded, blindly following an artist without actively dissecting their work. Of course, I found myself wrong... in some aspect.

I surrounded myself by members of the fandom who are smart, open-minded, and respectful. That's why in the many music releases they've put out since I became a fan, I was confident enough to comment on the ones I don't like, respectfully of course. I am very passionate about the things I like and the people I follow. But never once I blindly supported something I cannot justify or explain. Many may know me as a Michael Jackson fan, and I will forever defend him against biased judgment. However, when people ask me if he bleached his skin, I will not immediately attack the person, because his question was valid. It wasn't disrespectful at all. I will answer according to what I know. Yes, he did, but there is a reason. If you want to know about it, listen to what I have to say first and let me finish. Only then I'll listen to your input. That to me, is a discussion. It's an exchange of ideas and opinion that may or may not align. Getting to know BTS Army, they earned my respect. There was a time that I would have defended them as vigorously as BTS, until I changed my mind.

I recently uploaded a Book Discussion on the new BTS Book, Beyond the Story. I have been reading books for years and although niche, Youtube has a community for book enthusiasts where people freely review books. This is a healthy environment, as people are free to say that they liked or disliked a book. In the same community, there is always varying opinion. Book ratings are seldom the same for each reader. The reason I title my videos Book Discussion instead of a Book Review is because it sounds friendlier. Book Review sounds too rigid. Book Discussion welcomes conversation. I was confident to put out my Book Discussion on the new BTS Book because I believed that BTS Army will actually listen. Few did. If you happen to watch the video, you'd notice that I did not attack BTS at all. In fact, I discussed the book as I would any other book. And it was bad, only because I have over 100 books to compare it to. Actually, while I was reading the book, I looked up reviews online, expecting similar observations. If you look at the comments on Goodreads, most if not all of it comes from fans, and none actually discussed the book as a book but instead discussed the book as BTS.

I'm surprised that nobody saw what I saw because my observations are quite in fact obvious. I did not even go deeper than the actual text. Normally, I'd dive into the application and its relation to deeper subjects in life. I didn't even go there because the surface level is already problematic. Yet fans saw this as an attack and immediately formulated their counter-attack. I was in defensive mode. I hate that I have to walk around eggshells around Army, afraid to stir another drama.

I am disappointed because maturity doesn't reflect on both sides. Whatever BTS is fighting against, Army is unintentionally promoting. RM once took criticism and worked around it. I wish people would do the same. Now unfortunately, I have this heavy weight on my heart whenever I talk about BTS. Don't get me wrong. BTS will always be special to me and I will never leave their side. But I think I'm stepping back a little bit from defending Army. Not that it matters anyway. My voice is a hum in a chamber of echoes. No one will hear me, and I'd like for it to stay that way.

I hope this does not get views as usual. This is my space. This is my head.

P.S. The video title is not an exaggeration, the book is really bad. But did I use the title for clickbait? Of course. That's social media in retrospect, a realm of clickbaits. I'm surprised that you were. So did I use BTS for views? Of course I did, just like I used the food I eat, the places I go to, the clothes I buy, the pain I go through, the story I heard, and the books I read, for views. It's called experience. And that's what I do, I share experience.

My BTS journey

I'm bored so I found this BTS ARMY tag which seems fun. I thought I'd answer them.

QUESTIONS:

When did you discover BTS?

I actually discovered BTS in 2016. That was the year I got into G-Dragon and Bigbang. Youtube and its algorithm recommended me this BTS video clip of the members dancing to Bigbang songs. Right away, I fell in love with their personality.

Consequently, I got curious and I searched them up, but it didn't stick. I forgot about them and I didn't pay attention until they got so popular in 2018 that it became impossible not to. I remember thinking in 2018 when they received their first american award, "Oh wow, BTS? I know them!" But that was it. I still didn't care enough to revisit their discography.

Fast forward to 2021 when the BTS Meal from Mcdonald's came out, I thought, "How did they get this far?" or "When did they get this big?" The last time I remember, Bigbang was the biggest K-pop group, not BTS. The hype of the whole Mcdonald's collaboration became so massive that it was enough to make me ask the big question "WHY". My goal then is to at least understand "why", I wasn't planning on staying for good. Joke's on me because I never left since.

What song did you hear first?

In 2016, I believe I heard their songs "Blood, Sweat & Tears" and "Dope". But back then, subtitles and translated lyrics weren't a thing in K-pop. So I went with the beat. I heard "Dope" first. And I couldn't say that there was something special with the song. It was just that... dope, like a thousand other songs that came out that year. I would say this though, the choreography got me. And that was enough for me to watch a live version of the song. But it didn't do it for me. It wasn't from any special stage so wearing the same clothes they wore in the music video threw me off. It was bland. Though their performance was great, in my mind at the time, so was every single K-pop group out there.

Then I decided to find another song. Maybe if I find two more songs that are as equally "dope", I'd stick around. I saw "Blood, Sweat & Tears" next. I may have seen a third song but I can't remember. Maybe it's "Fire". Anyway, let me tell you something about BS&T. It's not for me. Not then, not now. I can't explain why because I don't get it myself. It has all the makings of a Liz approved song and music video but it didn't get there. Maybe I didn't like the melody altogether. That was enough for me to close the book and never return.

Until.

2022. I heard "Dynamite" because I was intentionally looking for new songs on Spotify. I love "Dynamite" because it gave me Michael Jackson vibes and I love MJ. Besides "Dope" which made it to my unplayed "K-pop" playlist", "Dynamite" made it to my main playlist. I listened to it regularly. But that was it. It was a trendy pop song which is in english so naturally it didn't mean anything special. I liked the song but not enough for me to say I like the artist. This was around the time of the Mcdonald's collab too, so add it together, plus the fact that every single reactor on Youtube were reacting to BTS, I decided to take a peek myself. See what the hype is all about.

I think I saw a live performance first from Tinydesk. It was a medley of their songs. So I heard Dynamite, Save Me and Spring Day. All of which were toned down, with a live band, and just their vocals. Not too much production. Not too much music. No choreography at all. But it was exactly that, that I needed to hear. That was enough for me to keep going.

What song made you a fan?

Continuing the story from the time I saw the Tinydesk performance, both "Save Me" and "Spring Day" caught my attention. I looked it up on Youtube but the studio versions didn't do it for me. I liked the unplugged version more. But I was convinced enough to keep looking and there I found, "Life Goes On". It was the first song that I listened to non-stop. But to say that that song was the one that made me fan, was an overstatement.

It was actually "Spring Day" which made me a fan, which solidified the status. The overabundance of BTS reactors on my Youtube homepage actually helped me with my journey. I followed along as they discover BTS because just like everyone else, I didn't know where to start. BTS discography was insane. But ARMY was helpful in the comments. As they guided the reactors I would watch, it guided me too. And that led me to watching theories regarding the"Spring Day" music video. Since then it didn't matter if I liked the music video or not, or the beat, or the aesthetic. What mattered was the message which soon I found out was a major part of BTS discography.

Who was your first bias?

My first bias is V because of his visual. I saw him in 2016, in the music video for "Dope". But as you know by now, that didn't last long. I wouldn't even call it a bias because I simply saw him for his looks.

Who is your current bias?

Looking for my bias was intentional. When I decided to know their names and look them up, I intentionally searched for Jimin first, just because it's the name I keep hearing about. And he did not disappoint. He is exactly what I was expecting.

Jimin will always be my ultimate bias but someone else come and go alongside him. And that someone depends on the day.

Who is your bias wrecker?

My first bias wrecker was Suga. I loved his mixtape. I loved his rap style. Then I think I shifted next to RM when I found out he liked the same things I do. Then it became J-hope and Jin simultaneously. I remember watching compilation videos of Jin knowing he would make me laugh. And I often find myself anticipating J-hope's part in BTS songs. Then it was RM again when I heard Mono. Anyway yeah, mostly the rappers I guess.

What are your top 5 favorite songs?

This is difficult. But I'll try to name the ones that hold significant meanings to me.

1. Spring Day
2. Black Swan
3. Magic Shop
4. Zero o'clock
5. Epiphany

What song have you listened to the most?

According to my stats, in 2021 it was "Epiphany" first and then "Life Goes On" second.

In 2022, it's probably a song from Mono (most probably "everythinggoes"), Jimin's "With You", or RM's "Wildflower" but I'm not sure because my stats didn't show.

This year (January 2023), it's probably "Crystal Snow" or J-hope's "Future".

What is your favorite solo song?

I'll name one from each member. It seems fair that way.

Jin - Epiphany (but lately "Awake")
Suga - So Far Away
RM - everythinggoes
J-hope - Future
Jimin - Promise
V - Winter Bear
Jungkook - Euphoria

What is your favorite album?

This is hard because when I discovered BTS, I didn't listen to the songs chronologically per album. So I can't say I have a favorite. I don't own physical albums too, nor do I know which songs are in the same album. I'll just say "Proof" so it's all in one album.

What is your favorite music video?

Black Swan for sure.

What is your favorite choreography?

Black Swan, Fake Love, and Airplane pt. 2.

What is your favorite lyric?

Oh boy. We'll be here forever. I'll name a few.

Magic Shop : "I know you're hesitating because even if you say the truth, in the end it will all return as scars."

Zero o'clock : "When the second hand and the minute hand overlap, the world hold its breath for a brief moment."

Intro: Nevermind : "If you feel like you're going to crash then accelerate more."
"Moss surely grows on a stone that doesn't roll."

Answer: Love Myself : "Even all the scars from your mistakes make up your constellation."

Awake : "Maybe I can't touch the sky, but I still want to reach my hand. I want to try running. Just a little more."

Tomorrow : "The dawn right before the sun rises is the darkest."

ON : "Choosing to descend into the dark abyss"

Outro: Wings : "My back hurts in order to let my wings sprout."

Who is your favorite vocalist?

The thing about BTS is every single member has a role to play. No member is alike. No member sounds alike. No member does it alike. But if I were to really choose, it's Jimin or Jin.

Who is your favorite rapper?

Again, every single member has a role to play. No member is alike. No member sounds alike. No member does it alike. But if I were to really choose, it's Suga.

Who is your favorite dancer?

And again, every single member has a role to play. No member is alike. No member dances alike. No member does it alike. To each is their style. But if I were to choose, it's Jimin.

Hmm.. but sometimes it's J-hope.

What is your favorite BTS era?

I wasn't lucky enough to experience their eras because I became an ARMY in 2021. But if I were to imagine I were around in any era, probably the "Love Myself" era.

What is your favorite performance?

Oh man. This is hard. But it's also easy.

If I were to choose one, I'd choose "Attack on Bangtan" Live On Stage Epilogue Japan 2016. Their energy on stage is unbeatable.

What is your favorite side project? (ie Run BTS, BT21, TinyTan, BU, etc.)

Run BTS, Bon Voyage, and In The Soop.

Have you seen them in concert?

Not yet. But I will. I will make sure that I will.

Confessions of a Personal Trainer's Girlfriend: CONFESSION #1

Confessions of a Personal Trainer's Girlfriend

CONFESSION #1: Why Personal Trainer?

If you're going to ask me why, I'll say I don't know. Maybe it's destiny. Maybe we just happen to be at the right place and the right time. Maybe it's all just a big plot twist concocted by whoever was bored up there. We are two completely different persons born at two different decades but somewhat found our way to each other.

Before I start listing down "confessions", I'd like to make a disclaimer. This isn't a regular love story. I'm going to try to avoid the cheesy parts because I completely hate those. I'm not particularly a fan of romantic gestures because to me that's just being unoriginal. Like flowers. What a generic way to show someone you're in love. If you share the same belief, or maybe you're curious to hear my perspective, then go ahead and grab a seat. Listen to my story. I assure you, it may be ordinary at first, but it gets crazier.

Let me give you a little backstory of my life. Trust me, it's important in this narrative. I grew up an only child and that's important because it will explain my lack in social skills and my lifestyle choice. I also started out in life spoiled. I do not belong in the 1%, let me be clear about that, but I most definitely have more than enough. I grew up having options about basically everything - toys, education, clothes, gifts, food.

I am also not ugly. Let me elaborate before I get attacked by netizens. I'll be frank, I think I'm okay. I'm going to take that compliment. I'm not going to act all surprised when people tell me I look pretty. But I'm the kind of pretty that isn't for close up. I'm the kind that needs work. But I can definitely be pretty for the average standard. Maybe that's because I'm kind of fair skinned. The kind that Asian gets as a version of a fair skinned. I grew up getting special treatments because I look pretty. I am that spoiled. Society did that. There were even times when people talk to me in English just because of a false impression that I grew up abroad, or that I only speak English and not Filipino. I am also quite tall for a normal Filipino lady, so you get it. Growing up people tell me their visions of me and my potential career. I could be the next Ms. Universe or a Flight Stewardess. Those are the jobs people foresee for me.

Let me tell you right now, I hated it. I hated being pretty and being tall because growing up I hated the attention. I hated standing out. I wanted to blend in. I hate being at the end of every line at every Elementary School Flag Ceremony. I wanted so desperate to be normal. And yet people get intimitated by the natural features of my face, or because I'm tall, or because my Mom loves to dress me up, or maybe because I'm quiet. Why am I quiet, you ask? Because I'm awkward.

So this is what I did, I rebelled against people's image of me. In High School I became the opposite of what I was in Elementary School. The barbie doll image started fading in everybody's minds. I didn't want to be admired for being pretty and tall, I wanted to be feared for being smart. I began choosing people because I hate crowds. I limited the smiles I give away because I don't want to be just a pretty face. I offered my friendship to exclusive people and I became very choosy.

Now going back to the topic at hand, let me tell you why I chose to date a Personal Trainer. People who tell others "I didn't mean to fall in love" are liars. Of course you knew. You knew you're beginning to develop feelings but you choose to continue. Don't be a hypocrite. One thing you can expect from this whole "confessions" series is honesty. I'll be honest with you. I SAW IT COMING. In fact at some point I also wanted it to go there. Obviously.

I chose to date a Personal Trainer because it's a foreign territory for me. I am addicted to knowledge. Because my friendship is exclusive, I had to maintain a criteria. To be my friend, there must be something I can learn from you. I am choosy because I am hard to please. I like to immerse myself in different experiences and information making it hard for the average person to wow me. In short, it takes more than flowers to get my attention.

If there is one specific field of knowledge that I was unfamiliar with, it is Health and Fitness. In fact, I bounced back and forth with weight over the years and it is still something I struggle with to this day. I knew I needed to make a lifestyle change. I just didnt't know how to get there, until I met Him.

Trust me when I tell you he must be the greatest Personal Trainer at his field. I am not exaggerating. I truly believe he has the best potential out there. Like me, he is addicted to knowledge, only his addiction is directed at only one direction. For many years, I was awakened by a passionate pursuit quite similar to mine.

I can tell. I can tell when people are doing their job for the money or for the glory (my gosh the abs). I can also tell when somebody's passionate about their job. And that's Him for you. There is room to grow. There is a chase to a greater knowledge. I hate being stuck to a minimum. A true success to me isn't about standing at the top. It's about climbing to the top. Someone asked me before, what makes you see a smart person? I remembered my answer well. Open minded. Being smart is pointless if you're stuck there. Humility is the number one thing and you practice humility by attracting smarter people than you. Create a personal space and invite the best of people in it. Someone said before, "If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are at the wrong room." I strongly believe that. That's why I am looking for someone to grow with, in a field of knowledge apart from my own interest. That way, I cover all (lol!).

Stay tuned for my next "confession", I'll summarize our love story.

How to survive a music festival

I recently went to a music festival, last night actually. And I came to the realization that surviving music festivals can be quite challenging without the right instruments. I've been to a handful of music festivals in the past years, so I thought I'd share my acquired experience to the crowd.

A music festival usually lasts if not 12 hours, then 8 or 9. It's very different from a regular concert where you're only there to see one act. A music festival at most showcases 17 artists, some local some international.

Before I start, let me just say that my experiences is limited by national territory. I've never been to a music festival outside Philippines (no camps here), so I have no idea what they bring in theirs.

Also, I can't speak in behalf of the dudes.

DO I BRING A BAG?

I recommend you to bring one. There are options. Let me break it up for you. Some people wear backpacks (not the JanSport kind please, some festivals actually forbid those). Wear backpacks that are small and lightweight. Backpacks are nice if you're going for a themed outfit or a costume.

Some girls carry body bags (designer excluded), which is also an option. You can wear it over your shoulder or over your body.

Another option is a clutch or a wristlet. But I don't really recommend it. Because you have to hold it, although you can fit your phone and money, worse case scenario is that you'll forget about it and lose it. Especially when you're filming and you're also holding your phone or jumping around in the mosh pit. That could be difficult. If you're holding two things at the same time, you might forget one. "You can't serve two masters at once."

I recommend either a drawstring bag or a waterproof phone bag.

A drawstring bag is your bet when you're planning to stay for six hours or more, especially when you're going to film and use your phone a lot. Because if you do, you'd definitely need a power bank. If you're not really going for a themed outfit or costume, then bring a drawstring bag. It's very convenient. It's as light as feather! And it won't randomly zip open (because it has no zipper), but it can still hold all your stuff.

Another option if you're staying for less than 3 hours or perhaps you're simply confident you'll survive with less items with you is a waterproof phone bag. They're small enough to carry around your neck, but big enough to fit other stuff too (like cash and ID).

Tips:

Do not use your pockets if you have one! Your things could fall off while you're dancing and somebody might even pickpocket you.

Do not use your bag pockets either! I once put my phone there and I lost it. So please, do not put anything there!

Hold your phone too! You're gonna be filming the entire time anyway, let's face it. I'm telling you, it won't get in the way when you dance or pump your fist or clap. You can do all that while holding your phone. That way you're aware that you're holding it and you won't lose it. No one's going to be snatching it anyway because how the hell is he going to escape? Bouncers are gonna be lurking  around and a music festival is too crowded for him to dart off.

If you decide to join the mosh pit, better if you could place your backpack in front of you. That way you can see it.

Most especially, be conscious! And you can only be conscious if you're sane. Meaning, don't get too drunk! You can get tipsy but I don't recommend you getting too drunk. You can enjoy the show without getting wasted, seriously.

CAN I WEAR A HAT?

Yes. The rule is that there is no rule. The best part about music festivals is that people get crazy. Experiment with your accessories! If you have access to it, wear anything LED or Glow in the dark. Don't be surprised to see people dress up when you get to music festivals. Fashion is twinning with music since the start of time.

If you do wear hats, I recommend the snapbacks and not the strapbacks. That way when you feel like taking it off, you can easily clip it on your belt loop or on your bag handle. Either hat works but I'm just saying that a snapback is more convenient. Saves time and effort.

Some people also wear fedora or boater hats on music festivals. Those can look nice (if you're going for the boho look), but if you don't care about those kind of stuff, there's no need to wear a fedora. You'd have nowhere to put it down and you can't squeeze it in your bag because it's going to get deformed. After all, at a music festival, you're definitely going to sweat... like a lot. If you're going to a music festival to hang out with friends at a corner, with your mat and music in the background, then go ahead wear whatever you want. But if you're entering the mosh pit, do not wear a fedora or a boater. People there will be annoyed, and so will you when people start pushing.

What I recommend you wearing is a bandana. It has double or triple purpose. It could work as a handkerchief (to wipe your face with), something to sit on, and also to keep your hair away from your face (or as a ponytail). Bandanas can save your life.

Other people wear feathers or flowers on their hair. Just make sure they're clipped on just right or else it might annoy you when it starts to fall off when you jump around.

If you're going to the venue early and the sun is still out, bring your sunglasses with you. Whatever, you can wear sunglasses at night and nobody cares.

I don't recommend rings because once you start pumping your fist in the air, it might fall of and hit somebody in the face. But if you do wear one, make sure it fits you.

Don't wear any expensive accessories because worse case scenario, it might get broken or get stolen.

Chokers are perfect for music festivals because they're cute and they stay in place. I recommend the stretchy kind so it's comfortable. Do not wear necklaces with huge pendants because when you jump around, it's going to hit your face.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HAIR?

Again, if you're going for a theme, go ahead rock a hair bow if you want. But a simple do would be a bun. If you're entering the mosh pit, consider tying your hair. Braids are a favorite on music festivals, so if you can do it yourself or you have someone to do it for you, make do!

If you decide to wear your hair down, just make sure you bring a ponytail just in case you want to pull it up after several hours of dancing. In this case, a bandana can save your life.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Alas the famous question. I recommend you to wear something cute but comfortable. If you can rock the sleeveless, then better, because it can get abnormally hot. But don't wear the totally sleeveless one (without straps) because it might fall off when you start jumping. If you do, make sure it's tight.  If you're not comfortable with sleeveless, it's okay, wear T-shirts. If you're not comfortable with your belly rolls, it's okay too, wear something loose. But anyway no one would be judging you if you wear a bikini top at the festival. Maybe wear mesh over it. That would look cool. People wear rampers, jumpers and dresses too (wear shorts when you do). I recommend shorts because they're comfortable and it doesn't get as hot. Some people wear jeans, but seldom you find one or two in the crowd.  They tend to get uncomfortable when it gets too hot. Like I said, expect people dressing up for the occasion. If you're not into that, it's cool, you don't need to. Fitting in doesn't fit in on music festivals. Do you hunny.

If you're entering the mosh pit, I recommend wearing a sports bra instead of a regular bra. After all you'd be jumping around.

Research the recommended wear if they post one. Follow their social media accounts. Some music festivals have dress codes (sucks right) because some are held on stricter venues. Check if the place is indoor or outdoor. If indoor, then probably it's air-conditioned. But don't go all the way to wearing a leather jacket! It can still get hot because of the volume of people there. I recommend a plaid shirt (they're famous for the grunge look). It can look cute when you put it over your shoulder, or maybe tie it on your waist, but it can also be quite useful when you sit on the ground or if it gets cold. Or if you're desperate, you can use it to wipe your face from sweat. Hey no judgment.

For example at the Chroma Music Festival, they recommend wearing white because they're going to be tossing colored powder on the crowd. Things like that matters. Get informed!

In terms of footwear, I recommend sneakers. Or pretty much anything without laces or heels. You'd be jumping around so make sure you've prepped your shoes to the occasion. Don't wear something new you haven't stretched out yet.

If you're entering the mosh pit, don't wear sandals. People are going to step on you and it will hurt. I guess you can wear heels or sandals when you're just going to chill with your friends at the corner.

People wear boots and that's okay. But don't go all the way high to the knee. You're going to sweat and die (kidding). Maybe wear ankle boots with one inch heel is fine. Most important tip is: know yourself. If you're confident you can rock those heels, then go ahead. But I don't recommend it. Basically if you're going for the first time, it'd be a trial phase. Get to know where you vibe. There's a spot at a music festival for everybody.

DO I WEAR MAKEUP?

If you're going for a theme, then coordinate with your theme. That's fine. Again, nobody cares. But for your convenience, do not wear heavy makeup. It will run down. Personally, I don't. I just wear foundation, mascara,  lipstick (sometimes not even lipstick because it will wear off), contour, and brows. Make sure you wear makeup that's long lasting and waterproof at that if you care that much.

Oh and there's no need for a touch up. Maybe bring pressed powder (not the loose kind because that can be questionable) or your lipstick. That's fine.

HOW MUCH DO I BRING?

Don't bring too much! Don't bring any less! Food inside will be expensive. Even the water will be expensive. Water bottles usually cost Php80-100 at minimum.

Personally, I bring Php1,000 to Php2,000. I have enough money for an emergency appetite and less to consider a great loss.

Now don't bring your actual wallet. That will weigh you. Bring a small pouch or a smaller wallet. You only need cash, maybe a debit card if you get stranded, and an ID.

Even better, I recommend you don't bring a wallet at all! Carry a silicone phone case instead and put your cash and ID in between. That way you have your phone and money with you. Since you're holding your phone, then you're basically holding your entire life with you (phone and money). What are the odds you'll lose it? I think, personally, it's harder to manage a phone and a wallet, rather than having it as one item.

You can also insert stubs there, because most of the time you get free drinks on stubs. You don't want to lose those.

WHAT IF I'M DRIVING THERE?

Even better! Bring all the unnecessary stuff if you please. Bring a change of clothes, meds in case you get an ache somewhere afterwards, etc. And if you do bring a car, make sure that you, if you plan to enter the venue at 5pm, to come earlier. Again, do your research. See where the parking is. And expect traffic if it's some big event. Consider the pricing (if they cost per hour then bring extra cash), the time you'll spend actually looking for a slot, and the operating hours. Some parking lots aren't open for 24 hours. So if you're leaving at 1am or 2am, then you won't get your car until they open  the next day (with extra cost). Or if a parking lot charges differently for an "overnight" parking, make sure you ask how much they cost.

Now if you're bringing your car, make sure you don't lose your keys, please. What I do is I attach it to my wallet. That way it's all in one (again). But if you're not carrying a wallet or your wallet doesn't have a hook to clip your keys on, then make sure to clip your car keys with a keychain. That way it's easier to find and it won't just slip out of your zipper bag. If your bag has an inside zipper pocket, keep it there.

DO'S AND DON'T'S

Check the official website and/or official media account. They usually post FAQs weeks earlier. Sometimes they even post a schedule so you can anticipate. These are the typical do's and don't's with some of mine.

DO'S

  • Bring ID. Usually music festivals are 18+. Even if they don't require you to present ID, always bring one.
  • Bring towel/ tissue/ wet wipes. Girl, you're going to be sweating.
  • Bring power bank! Gauge your battery consumption. If you think your fully charged phone on low battery will suffice, no need to bring one. Otherwise, it will weigh your bag. If you're staying for 12 hours there, bring one with a larger mAh.
  • Plan a rendezvous point with your friends. There's going to be a lot of people there. If your phone dies or you lose it somehow, and if by the scarcity of luck you lose your friends in the crowd too, at least you have a backup plan.
  • If you're on prepaid, load up!
  • Rest. Unlike concerts, music festivals, they go for hours. You don't have to see EVERYTHING. Pick your favorite sets and see those. Don't pressure yourself. If you're tired from jumping up and down, exit. Join the sit at the corner squad with your pals and share some french fries.
  • Eat before drinking! Basic stuff.
  • Sleep the night before. You need all the energy you can get.
  • And say sorry if you bump into someone or you step into someone, I beg of you. Even if they don't care, or they didn't hear you. Apologize anyway.
  • Dance your heart off. Shuffle or not, it doesn't matter. Enjoy the music!
  • You could bring: a fan because you're going to sweat to death. But bring the foldable one so it's more compact. And a mat if it's outdoors.
  • You could bring: inflatables. They're fun. Especially those you can sit on.
  • And lastly... let loose and have fun!
DON'T'S

  • Don't bring outside food and drink.
  • Don't bring anything flammable like perfume or alcohol.
  • Don't bring cigarette packs unsealed. That can be questionable. On top of that lighters aren't allowed. Don't worry you can buy cigarette inside, only 10x more expensive (except on rare occasions when they're not).
  • Don't film the whole show. Film snippets that's alright.
  • Don't bring pens and monopods.
  • Don't bring big cameras.
  • Don't wear spiked and studded belt and bracelets.
  • Don't come on time. If you're a first timer, please don't come on time. Nobody comes on time. It doesn't mean that doors open at specific time that you have to be there. Mostly, music festivals don't allow reentry.
  • Don't bring unnecessary stuff inside.
  • Don't forget your ticket.
  • Don't judge people. Like I said, people at music festivals DGAF. And it's one of the best things at it. People can be weird but that's fine. You can be weird too. Nobody cares. You shouldn't do too.

RANDOM TIPS:

Again do your research. Some post their venue maps. Familiarize yourself with it. Know where the restrooms are, the mosh pit, the smoking area, the side activities, and the food stalls.

If they don't post it, then right when you get there, survey the place yourself.

What I do afterwards is I buy water, even if I'm not thirsty yet. I had an experience before when they actually ran out of water. It was bad, and I doubt it will happen again. But just to be sure, buy water beforehand. This way, you can also avoid the long cue. Buy it lukewarm so you can put it in your bag and stuff wouldn't get wet. Also when you find yourself thirsty while you're on the crowd (but wouldn't want to leave), you can drink right then and there.

I recommend this. Eat before you get inside. Food will be expensive, so pack up.

Take photos with your friends while you're all still fresh. Trust me, you'll forget about the artsy photos midway.

#VLOG: A DAY IN MY LIFE (Law School Diary)

I started law school with a dream, a dream that soon I find difficult to remember. Law school is a whole new world. It's hard to compare it to anything. A professor once said, "Saying that law school is hard is an understatement."

For most days life at law school is black and white. Either you get called to recite or you don't. Either the professor shows up or he doesn't. Either you came prepared or you didn't read all the cases. The rarity of it all, the silver lining, is days when the Executive declares consistent holidays.

This video my friends, is one of those days.

Enjoy!

Weird turn-ons

My friends and I were discussing this just last night, and I came to realize I have some weird turn-ons out there. I thought, I don't know, maybe I can list them down. Let me warn you though, this is pretty weird, although some just semi weird.

1.) You know that sucked flesh at the back of the foot/ankle? Yeah, it's such a turn on. That's probably why I am attracted to men who rolls the bottom of their jeans, and wears loafers with ankle socks. I like staring at this part of the human body way too much that's why sometimes I you'll catch me walking behind my guy friends. *winks*

If you can't picture it out, let me help you. Unfortunately I cannot find definite examples on men.

2.) My second turn on is actually related to my first. LOAFERS/CHINO/MOCCASIN. I love it when guys wear loafers, especially if they're quite feminine. Me loves some androgynous men. Additionally, when loafers have short heels that clicks when they walk is also a major turn on. I mean, they can wear loafers with cargo shorts, skinny jeans, or formal wear, and it doesn't defeat style at all.

3.) THE POMPADOUR HAIRCUT. Oh my gosh. Defined: Hair is clipped close or faded on the sides and kept long and voluminous on top.

4.) And holy macaroons! The adam's apple when it moves (when they talk, or swallow, or breath).

5.) White shirts (rolled preferably) especially paired with skinny jeans. Boom! Three birds one stone!

6.) Scent. Self explanatory here. Someone with a signature scent. But it can't be too strong, and it must be something unique (so duh, drugstore spritz is a no).

7.) Nails basically contends good hygiene. I have this thing with fingernails, and it is infact the very first thing I notice at a guy.

8.) Jawline. Oooooh, a jawline that can cut. Perfect example is Matt Bomer.

9.) Androgynous. Yeah, I like feminine men. Perfect example? Korean men, lol

10.) Varicose Veins showing on arms and hands. (Not too much though lol)

11.) Suits. It indicates power and profession.
