It was refreshing,
Going out alone.
Ever since I started driving,
I lost a part of me
I didn't even notice.
I lost my feet.
The wonders of a real adventure.
Being lost,
And finding your way back.
That sense of fulfillment when you get home at the end of the day.
I didn't even know I miss it.
Until I did it again,
Today.
When I drive, I shut down the world.
I pull up the windows.
I blur the sound outside by putting on some music.
I hate hearing the constant honking of cars outside.
The jeepneys that carry with it noise and air pollution.
The amount of people making their way to a ride home.
The conductors straining their lungs to hail passengers.
The zigzag of buses that takes up half the road.
Then there goes the ruthless drivers cutting you every 5 seconds.
Even when you get to your destination,
You're struggling for parking.
Do I need to mention traffic at this point?
It's a world of active volcanoes waiting to erupt out there.
So to save time, stress, and effort,
Before I leave the house,
I waze,
I research.
I prepare for the journey not meant to be prepared for.
That's when I lose the adventure.
So today I went out.
No makeup.
No obligations.
I just went out.
I ate alone.
Walked alone.
Found the place alone.
Watched Moana alone.
Did samgyupsal alone.
It was refreshing,
Being,
Alone.
