This sounds familiar. I'd like to acknowledge the influence of social media and share my horrifying realization that these institutions that are supposed to help the society find their motivation to pursue a fit and healthy lifestyle are the same institutions that uninspires you to continue.
Be careful upon entering gyms because you'll never know what the industry actually think of you. They could offer their hand but on the other hand, they body shame you. Manipulation exists in places you don't realize by people you think are kind of enough to help you, even displaying the most approachable personality and accommodating environment. They present the taglines "Let's make healthy happen together with helpful, friendly coaches." They help you lose weight yes, with the cost of full degradation.
It happens silently, exchanged privately between coach to coach, but yes it happens. And often the silent ones are most in need of contravention. Be careful who you trust, and be careful of what you wear. It's very disappointing on my end, to see the horrible labor practices and client services over the years but remain silent about it.
So if you truly want a healthy trainer-client relationship, I truly suggest you find a recommendation by a trusted friend. A trainer is a teacher, we rely on their knowledge of wisdom and skills. Check their credibility and professionalism. Most of the time, katawan lang ang puhunan.
I'm sharing this from the bottom of my heart. I am pained to witness and account these practices over the years, and do nothing about it.
