#nowwatching: The Book Thief

I enjoyed the film, and I give this 10 out 10. It's perfect. The soundtrack stood out, which is highly unusual for me to notice. I usually just focus on the content, and take note of all the omitted scenes from the book to the movie.

The Narrator in the book still narrated the film, and I think it was superbly done. The voice over didn't sound cliché at all. In fact, it was very soothing, exactly how I imagined his voice in my head while reading the book.

Speaking of the book, I did make a book review on it. If interested, click here.

Everything was well done, I can't even name specifics. Of course, there are some differences to its source (which is the book), but I think that's already inevitable on book to film making. Besides, hands down for fairly sticking to the book. Probably 95% of the film remained true to the story. The changes weren't as critical. The additions weren't as complicated.

All the actors also did well, especially the actor who played Liesel Meminger. I saw her growth in the span of 2 hours more or less (running time), and it wasn't forced or anything unnatural.

I guess that's just the word I'm looking for - natural. This film is so natural it can stand as an individual. The film did not need the book. It's great as is. It's just a coincidence that the book is just as great.

The ending was satisfying. Just like the book, it held a satisfying conclusion, but it wasn't spoon fed.
