#23 Stories: Staying sober

The best decision I ever made was to stay sober.

Worse drunken state and hangover definitely goes to Nagsasa Cove in Zambales for my birthday treat last year. I was completely blown away by the effect of alcohol in my system. I convinced myself I was alcohol-immune but duh of course I wasn't. I spent the rest of my night freaking out because I couldn't sleep and my head won't stop spinning. I couldn't catch sleep because the ground was too cold and there wasn't any blankets or pillows (we were on a tent). It feels like seconds away from a heart attack because my heart was literally on a marathon. I was carefully wishing I was home but the more I do so the more reality catches up to me. I was desperate for a comfortable bed, comfortable wear, and comfortable food. Adding all that factor was such a blur.

The next day my head was even worse and I couldn't stop puking. It was super inconvenient given I paid for the snorkeling bit of the whole adventure. I wouldn't forget my regrets when I realized I wasn't able to enjoy half of what I paid for. I couldn't even get out of the boat! I had to file a sick leave the next day because I just couldn't function. It was horrible. Right then and there, I told myself the next time this is happening, I am staying sober.

Best decision ever.

Perhaps I may not have enjoyed the drinks but I did get my fair share out of it. I was tipsy halfway through the party but I didn't need to push myself. I stopped drinking when I needed to and it feels great to remember everything (kuya anong name mo pls). Best part of it was I was able to monitor the bill all throughout. Lol
