Maybe happiness is not a destination.
Maybe happiness comes in fragments.
Maybe happiness is making fun of my brother,
scaring him to death while telling stories about ghosts and spirits
and him clinging to me like I’m his hero.
Maybe happiness is spending hours having coffee with my Mom on a Sunday,
talking about life and our plans for the rest of the day.
Maybe happiness is spending a chill night at home watching netflix.
Maybe happiness is telling your bestfriend about your small successes.
Maybe happiness is finally purchasing the pair of shoes you’ve always wanted.
Maybe happiness is dressing up really fancy and feeling like a princess.
Maybe happiness is seeing the sun after days of rain.
Maybe happiness is making memories with your loved one.
Maybe happiness is that unexpected announcement of class suspension.
Maybe happiness is getting a passing grade when you’re so sure of the contrary.
Maybe happiness comes in tiny moments.
Maybe happiness doesn’t knock on our doorstep when we finally get to buy our dream house.
Maybe happiness is a friend who always had our backs but we’re too busy to notice.
For you see, happiness doesn’t come in one piece.
We expect it to be so big that once it comes, it’d rock our world.
But maybe... just maybe, it’s been with us all along.
