Art to me is an acquired taste. It's like wine. It's sophisticated so you want to have a part in it. But you taste it and you spit it back out. Everything else is a mystery. How do people drink wine? It's the same thing -- art.
You dabble on art and one attempt on a piece and you spit it back out. It's ugly. You question how people appreciate art. You question your talent. But the more you do art, the more you drink wine, the more you understand it. Sooner or later, you're interpreting art pieces here and there.
When you first look at an abstract art, you get disturbed. Nothing makes sense. But the more you expose yourself in art, the more it starts to get meaning. Then you start to crave it.
That's the thing about art, no matter how ugly you think it is, someone out there might enjoy it. What you see in your art is different from what your audience see in it. That's why I like art. When you look at it closely, there is no ugly art. No mistakes. No failed attempt. No matter how ridiculous you see your own creation, other people might interpret it otherwise. Art is subjective. It depends on who's looking.
Someone else might enjoy something you don't because he's coming from a place you haven't been. People see something based on experiences, or tolerances.
So go see art. Look at it. The more you do, the more you will appreciate it.
Because art, is always an acquired taste.
